The Jaguars took to the road for their last regular season game, traveling just north to take on the East Central Eagles. The Jaguars were able to close out their season with a solid 26-7 win, closing out their regular season record at 6-2.
The game started out with the Jaguars defense being swarming as they forced three consecutive fumbles on East Central drives. After some of their own mistakes, the Jaguars were able to push the ball across with a three-yard Lavone Kroschel touchdown run. The two-point conversion pass was complete to Taggert, making the score 8-0.
After forcing an Eagles punt, the Jaguars drove the field again as Lavone Kroschel was able to find the end zone on a six-yard run. The extra point failed, making the score 14-0. The Eagles caught a few breaks and ended up scoring in the second quarter, making the score 14-7 at the half.
The second half was all about defense. The Jaguars defense allowed (-9) yards for the half, shutting the doors on the Eagles hopes. The offense took control as they drove 88 yards, capped off with a 12-yard Trevor Johnson run. Lavone Kroschel finished the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 15-yard run, closing out the game score at 26-7.
There was a lot at stake here as the Jaguars and Eagles were playing for a first round playoff bye, and a home game on Saturday, October 28. The Jaguars closed the season on a great note, improving the past few weeks game to game.
The Jaguars have secured the No. 2 section seed for the playoffs. They earned a round one bye, and will host a home playoff game next Saturday afternoon. The winner of the Saturday game will go to the section finals for a chance to play at state.
