Former Hinckley student writes children's series

September 24, 2018

Former Hinckley Elementary student, Shelley Chollett Pierce, pens middle-grade fiction series, "The Crumberry Chronicles." Pierce’s first middle-level speculative fiction and first book in The Crumberry Chronicles, “The Wish I Wished Last Night” was released October 2017. “Battle Buddies,” volume two of the series, was released September 4, 2018.

In Battle Buddies, readers are drawn further into the life of 11-year-old Jase Freeman and his ability to get himself into trouble, even as he tries to do the right thing.

Fifth grade teacher Jessie Miller shares her impressions of the new book. “Jace's story continues and through him we struggle and learn how to find joy. As a teacher, Jace's story is a significant reminder that all of my students could be inspired by the joy they see in me and that there are daily opportunities to teach not only academic curriculum but also life lessons. I highly recommend Battle Buddies to students, teachers and parents. I plan to get several copies for my classroom bookshelf. From a teacher's perspective, Mrs. Pierce perfectly captured the daily worries and struggles of students. Everyone that reads this will take away more than the time it took to read it. Just as in her debut novel, this sequel simmers deliciously with dialogue and multiple story layers creating the tastiest 'hot dish.' Inspiration, joy and answers to life's questions can be found everywhere and in the most unexpected places.”

Battle Buddies is 204 pages in paperback and retails for $9.99. It is available from Amazon.com in both paperback and ebook.
