The Minnesota Department of Transportation started a tree clearing project along both northbound and southbound I-35 on Nov. 6. Clearing will occur between Proctor and Mahtowa and between Willow River and Hinckley. No traffic impacts are expected, but motorists should be aware of equipment on the road shoulders. Work is expected to continue through the winter.
This work is a federally funded safety project to remove trees within the clear zone. Most vehicles that leave the roadway come to a stop within the clear zone. The goal of removing hazards in that area is to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes.
